The Boston Celtics kept to their pledge, Austin Rivers is headed to the Los Angeles Clippers to play for his Dad.
In a deal that is expected to be finalized on Thursday, Rivers will head to the Clippers, while the Phoenix Suns’ send Shavlik Randolph to Boston and Los Angeles sends Reggie Bullock to the Suns and Chris Douglas-Roberts to the Celtics.
Boston will also receive a pick according to The Boston Herald’s Mark Murphy.
Austin Rivers will now suit up under the direction of his father and new head coach Doc Rivers. Something both the son and father had said they’d be interested in doing since Austin was drafted in 2012, when Doc was still coaching in Boston.
Randolph, who spent 16 games with the C’s in 2012-13, is likely to stay with the team and join the active roster. It is expected that Douglas-Roberts will be waived by Boston.

Randolph, a 6-foot-10 power forward, averaged 4.2 points and 4.4 rebounds in 12.4 minutes in 16 games with Boston in 2012-13. It was his first season back in the NBA after spending a year in Puerto Rico (2009-10) and China (2011-12).
It has been a busy 30 days for Boston. They have freed up cap space and added a ton of picks to their already large stock of picks, including moving Rajon Rondo to the Dallas Mavericks in December.
This deal, in a way, completes the Jeff Green deal that sent Rivers to the C’s from the New Orleans Pelicans earlier in the week.
